Faraday Room

H-J added a Faraday room in 2008 for production testing of our epoxy molded medium voltage bushings. The double-shielded Faraday room blocks out electromagnetic radiation to ensure ambient noise does not effect on our partial discharge testing. Our production test system allows us to perform AC withstand and partial discharge measurement on bushings up to 46kV class.

H-J Enterprises supplies transformer and switchgear components to the worldwide OEM market, and has continued its policy of using the latest technology in its production and manufacturing processes. As a leading manufacturer in this segment, H-J has taken the next step in its extensive customer support program with the development of its own high voltage test laboratory. This laboratory allows H-J to stay on the vanguard of its industry and further advance its product offerings through high quality research and development.

H-J can now provide test services for its entire spectrum of customers, including Utilities, OEM's, Repair Shops, Universities and other clients. The lab is located in St. Louis, Missouri, adjacent to the Company's manufacturing facilities. The floor space of the lab is 40' X 42' feet with a ceiling-to-floor clearance of 18' feet, thus accommodating small to medium sized equipment.
Acknowledging that safety is the most important factor, the new laboratory includes extensive safeguards as well as the presence of highly qualified personnel, carefully developed systematic procedures, visual and audible safety systems and access controls to all test areas.

H-J has the ability to conduct all tests in accordance with nearly all applicable standards including: ANSI/IEEE, NEMA,CSA and IEC. Tests can also be performed according to customer specific standards or requirements.

RF Shielded Room (Faraday Cage)

Provides a Noise and Corona Free Environment for RIV or Partial Discharge Testing.

The floor space of the lab is 40' X 42' feet with a ceiling-to-floor clearance of 18' feet, thus accommodating small to medium sized equipment.

The laboratory design includes a sophisticated and extensive copper ground grid system that was designed and located under the entire test building. The grid has multiple access points throughout the facility.

In order to provide the best control over test results, inside the laboratory there is a double screen shielded room or Faraday cage with power line filters and a carefully designed service pass through panel for AC power and BNC (coaxial) connections to the equipment being used and tested inside the cage.

Utilities and services provided for testing include: single phase power for 120, 240 and 480 volts, high pressure air for tools and equipment, heating and air conditioning, certified hygrometer and temperature indicators, telephone, fax and computers with e-mail service for transmitting test procedures, results or other customer information.
